The beginning of the story
An Autumn Sunset in La Plata A mild and peaceful autumn sunset graced La Plata on Saturday, April 20, 1996 — a perfect day for the solemn inauguration of the women’s aesthetic studio that Claudia boldly opened to the public, full of confidence in the future. Her family and around sixty “fans” accompanied her with affection and, why not, admiration. Beautiful plants, flowers, and chocolates filled the house. The La Plata magazine Calle 52, in its first issue dated April 13, 1996, published a lovely color photo of Claudia with the following caption: CLAUDIA FABIANI, RENOWNED COSMETOLOGIST, COSMIATRIST, AND FACIAL SCULPTOR FROM LA PLATA. SPECIALIST ON THE TELEVISION PROGRAM “UTILÍSIMA,” MAKEUP AND AESTHETICS TEACHER AT RICARDO PIÑEIRO’S MODELING SCHOOL, AFFILIATED WITH THE ENNCLERUS SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY IN LA PLATA, AND ACTIVE AT THE HOSPITAL DE CLÍNICAS IN BUENOS AIRES, IN THE DERMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT. And with such credentials, until that very Saturday, Clau had still been working humbly, treating her many clients on a treatment bed in her own bedroom. A proper space was long overdue — and now she has one, thanks to God and the heroic effort of daily hard work and wartime-level austerity. A key figure in this achievement was Malena Carranza, the young and talented architect (sister of a member of our Total Dedication Community), who designed with exquisite taste and imagination a little “dove’s nest” over the roof of the kitchen, laundry room, and Rauli’s bedroom. The studio is accessed through the garage, closed off by wide green iron gates in colonial style. It was a smart decision to provide direct access from the street to the workplace through this spacious car entrance, which connects to the house via a side door that opens into the kitchen-dining area. From there, you catch a glimpse of a large emerald lawn, with plants, a small mandarin tree, flowers, and in the background, a majestic cedar and a lush vine stretching along the neighbor’s wall. To the left of the garage, a charming green spiral iron staircase — about three meters high — leads boldly to a cheerful space adorned with plants and a small wooden balcony, fully enclosed by transparent polycarbonate. Installed with artistry at varying angles, it provides a roof over the garage and lateral protection, offering warmth and safety to the new complex. We finally enter the studio, roughly five meters long and four wide, also built with polycarbonate. It is bathed in sepia-toned light and has three walls gracefully draped with floor-length curtains. The floor is made of large, high-quality interlocked wooden slats. There’s a large mirror with a shelf, hazelnut-colored wicker furniture lovingly crafted in China, two small chairs, a hexagonal table, and a coat rack. But the core of the studio lies in the treatment bed, the ergonomic chair for the cosmetologist, and two heavy, sophisticated machines: the Famax for facial treatments and the Multiplex for body treatments, both firmly placed on surgical-grade metal stands. There is also an infrared lamp and a standing magnifying glass. A solid algarrobo wood cabinet with shelves and drawers holds countless jars and brushes. Seventeen diplomas from various beauty institutions where Claudia pursued her specialties lend the room a sense of professionalism and seriousness. And of course, a beautiful image of the Blessed Virgin with the Child Jesus reminds us of Uncreated Beauty — the kind that never fades. The entire setting is gently lit by spotlights and warmed by a modern portable heater, sure to be appreciated in the chilly winter months. So concludes this modest (yet hopefully accurate) description of Claudia’s long-awaited refuge of beauty, blessed on inauguration day by Father Ricardo. Afterwards, champagne was served. Around 7 p.m., Loreley and I left, filled with joy and comforted by Claudia and Raulito’s triumph — her ever-present right hand and a constant source of inspiration and strength in all her plans and achievements. This little newsletter has been written without pretension but with much love. — The Super Aunt (Octogenarian!)
